Wellness / metabolism

We’re loving our ChillPod! My brother and SIL bought it for me for my 40th and the whole family has been using it regularly ever since. The kids say it helps their moods (kids are so smart). It’s an inflatable, outdoor, ice / cold plunge that doesn’t take up much space in the footprint of your yard. It comes with a cover to keep the water clean for a few uses. Choose the version with the water cooler for extra convenience! Use code TARA91801 for 10% off.

Signos is the company through which I got my continuous glucose monitor (CGM). This allows me to monitor my blood sugar around the clock through the device + app so I can make tweaks in my nutrition, exercise timing, sleep, stress management and get real-time feedback on how each of those is affecting my blood sugar / metabolism. As someone who used to have PCOS and prediabetes, staying on top of this is critical for my health. Even intermittent data (CGM usage once or a few times a year) can be so powerful. For those with fat loss, muscle-building or “toning up” goals, blood sugar management is a very important piece of the puzzle and collecting data on how you’re doing in that department, if in the budget, can be such a gift! Use code “TARA15” for 15% off.

When you breathe into this device (the Lumen), it tells you if you are burning all fat, mostly fat, both carbs and fat, mostly carbs, or all carbs. This is a super helpful tool for tracking progress on metabolic flexibility. We want to be able to switch back and forth often with our fuel sources as our needs change. Use this link and code TARAALLENHEALTH to save $50.

Lumebox is a portable red light + infrared light device. It can help with metabolism, pain, injuries, scarring, mitochondrial health, skin health, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles, and more. I love this thing and you probably see me using it all the time over on IG stories. This link saves you $260. Discount doesn’t show up until you add to cart. :-)

This is our current personal, low EMF infrared sauna that you might see me talking from sometimes up in instagram stories. :-) I typically use it a few times a week to get a nice sweat session for cardiac, detox and metabolic purposes as well as soak up the benefits of infrared light exposure that is so healing and helps us “charge” our bodies with anti-inflammatory negative ions. It’s one of our favorite things we own!

This acupressure mat + pillow was given to me as a gift from a friend and what an awesome gift it was! It can help with neck or back pain as well as improving circulation.

A few of my most commonly worn sports bras during my workouts. Removable pads can be tossed aside if you want since they only get lost in the laundry anyway.

IMG_7019.jpg

Just a fun shirt that’s on repeat for me in the summer and during workouts.

IMG_8144.jpg

I have this in black and gray and LOVE them. Comfy and a cross between a sports bra and a cropped workout shirt.

If you love a good high pony like me during workouts or pool / beach days, get yourself this hat in a few colors / patterns. I use all 3 of mine a tonnnnnn.

These bralettes are a staple in my wardrobe ever since I decided to stop wearing super-tight or underwire bras many years ago. Breast health is important to me and reducing circulation in or around the lymph nodes closest to my breasts is not something I have any interest in. These bras are affordable, comfy and while they may not be as flattering as a pushup or underwire bra, I’m ok with it. These come with light padding that can be removed if you’re not a fan and are sold in several different color combos.

 Nutrition

Organifi products are on repeat in this house. I LOVE Glow (collagen pre-cursors) and mix that with my electrolytes daily. I also enjoy the hormone-balancing benefits and taste of Harmony. Gold is a fantastic anti-inflammatory golden-milk latte kinda drink and Red and Green juice are awesome for the kiddos too! My code: TARAALLEN gets you 15% off!

This is one of my FAV plant-based protein powders. Simple ingredients, plenty of protein, not too many carbs / sugar / fat (so I can customize and add my own ingredients). We use this a lot in smoothies … for me, I’ll usually use 2 scoops for amn easy 40g protein meal.

Redmond Real Salt is our favorite salt because of the way it comes minimally processed from the Earth with minerals still intact. This company is so much more than a salt company though. We use their seasonings, electrolytes (ReLyte), face masks, and bentonite clay too. Code “TaraAllen” saves you 15% on all regularly priced items.

We add this to smoothies, use in homemade hot chocolate, mix with corn starch for dry shampoo, and just get creative with it. Try this: mash an overripe banana and add some cacao powder for the easiest dessert you’ve ever made.

These are one of my favorite protein bars. Simple ingredients, tasty, filling, and the protein-to-fat-to-fiber ratio is excellent with them being low carb (which means I can just add my own carb in if I want for that snack). Their formulation has changed recently, but I still think their new ones are amongst the better options out there.

This was given to me as a gift from the company. As a vegetarian, I don’t use this particular product but if I wasn’t grossed out by meat, I definitely would! It’s a clean product that contains collagen and can help with hair, nails, skin, joints, and gut health. Use code TARA_ALLEN_HEALTH for 20% off your order.

Fitness

I bought this massage gun for my husband as a gift a few years ago and we love it! The different heads help get the job done across different parts of the body. This is excellent for increasing circulation, fitness recovery and breaking up knots.

This company goes out of stock from time to time. If it isn’t available now, try googling “thick booty bands” and look for a similar product.

These resistance bands are excellent for home or travel workouts! Try this trick: thread one through an empty toilet paper roll (stay with me here) and close the TP toll on the other side of a door. That will anchor your band at any height you need so you have full customization like you would with a cable machine at a gym.

Kitchen

This thing is magic! It does everything — pressure cook, slow cooker, air fry, rice cooker, yogurt maker, heat up leftovers, sous vide, steam, saute, bake, dehydrate. One of my prized kitchen appliances and totally worth the investment.

We LOVE this enamel-on-steel tea kettle and french press set and have it in this pretty blue color. I drink tea often and the french press is great for coffee, steeping loose tea, and infusing olive oil.

This is the mouth tape I use to gently remind my sleeping self to continue to breathe through my nose for all the health + metabolism benefits. You could use a little piece of medical tape instead, if you’d like. I just enjoy this ‘x’ design as it feels a little more secure to me but without feeling as though I’m taping my whole mouth shut.

The kids prefer this kind of mouth tape which doesn’t cover their lips at all, but surrounds their lips and still acts as a gentle reminder to nasal breathe at night. Nasal breathing is important to help prevent cavities, reduce hyperactivity-type symptoms, improve behavior, and overall just improve health + sleep quality. Yes please! ;-)

Rowe Casa Organics is one of the favorite brands around here! They are non-toxic and include products like sunscreen, bug spray, shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, essential oils, cleaning and laundry products, baby products, postpartum support, and even doggy products! Check them out and use code: TARAALLEN to get 20% off your first order.

My #1 brand for skincare and makeup has been Crunchi for YEARS now. Their products are high performing, non-toxic, and smell subtle but amazing! I’m sensitive to smells, so this is an important one for me.

Use code Allen10 to get 10% off your entire order! Risewell toothpaste and floss uses hydroxyapatite instead of fluoride, which is much more in-line with the natural makeup of our teeth and without the harmful neurotoxin effects of fluoride.

I don’t miss a day of tongue scraping EVER and have been doing it for 15 years or so already. Some people like to tongue scrape at night, but I prefer doing it once a day in the morning. I floss, tongue scrape, and then brush.

Occasionally (like, very occasionally … only when I think of it) I’ll add some activated charcoal to my toothpaste and brush with it. This can help remove surface stains and naturally whiten teeth.

This is was our toothpaste choice before we started using mostly Risewell. Hydroxyapatite toothpaste remineralizes teeth and has been found to be at least as effective as fluoride but without the neurotoxins.

Just ordered these after our son told me my “11” lines look like one crooked domino that’s about to knock down the straight domino. So, we shall see! Between these and the mouth tape, I’ll have lots of attractive points when I sleep.

The way these work is by reducing the amount of tension we hold in certain expressions in our face. If we tend to scrunch our forehead or squint our eyes as we grind our teeth at night, these “muscle tapes” help to prevent that while they are on.

Dry brushing can help the sweat response and detoxification as well as lymphatic drainage and skin exfoliation. I take 2 minutes to use it as many days a week as I remember — long strokes towards my heart on dry skin, in particular before a sauna session.

I recently started experimenting with facial cupping for the circulation and lymphatic drainage benefits. I use on oiled skin (like sesame or olive oil) and make sure not to apply too much suction or keep it still at all to avoid bruising.

Using a natural deodorant without any false fragrances, aluminum, or skin irritating baking soda is a non-negotiable for me. No anti-perspirant (we are MEANT to sweat!), but this helps keep things fresh. I love the grapefruit lemon scent, but they make many others. It’s not the garbage we grew up with, so I like to keep in mind it might not always be as convenient. This is a deodorant cream. You can apply with the mini popsicle stick they supply or just use your finger and wash your hands afterwards like I do.
